Dear Buyer,

We came across the listing for this house by accident. As soon as we saw it in person we fell in love with the quiet location, the great views of nature, and saw the potential it had.

We were amazed to learn the story of the house as well. The house originally sat on a hill off of what is now Wake Forest Road in North Raleigh since the 1860's. The previous owner worked to save it from demolition when the city decided to develop that area of town. Her boyfriend at the time had the house moved to its current location in 1984 as a gift to her. He made sure to update the wiring and plumbing and make it as comfortable and modern as he could without losing any of its charm. This is evident in some of the original door handles that remain downstairs.

We began renovations immediately, to put our personal touch on the house, with the idea that it would be our "forever home". We loved the fact that it had so much going for it in the way of raising kids, hosting family gatherings, and keeping a balance of being close to amenities yet out "in the country" enough to get away from it all. Our love for the house was deepened when we met the neighbors and saw them welcome us with open arms and homes. In just a short time we have celebrated, laughed, worked, and even cried with them.

With the thought of the house being our "forever home" we left no stone unturned in doing updates and renovations. If there was an upgrade to be done, we were doing it to the fullest extent. We wanted nothing but the best for ourselves and our future children.

We are moving to be closer to family as we are welcoming our first-born in the Fall. That, coupled with needing to help with aging family members, makes the decision a tiny bit easier, yet still heart-breaking.

We will miss waking up to a gorgeous views of nature and wildlife out the huge windows in every room of the house, watching our dogs play in a full sprint in the yard, the relationships we have built with our neighbors, the perfect balance of quiet and convenience, and the feeling of owning a piece of history. But, most of all, we will miss the feeling of "home" that this house provided as we were able to open it up to friends, family, and our own hearts. We hope the next owners can have the same sense of gratitude and joy each and every day that we were able to in the home.
