Tell us the things you love about your town/city
Louisburg’s motto is “Charming Since 1779.” The idea of the King of France and Benjamin Franklin shaking hands over the town and county is historically interesting. The oldest 2-year college in the country anchors this quaint Tar River town. The downtown area streets are lined with historic homes. You’ll find a vibrant atmosphere poised for the huge growth that has been seen in nearby towns. The rural surroundings that serve the town date back just as far and have a similar historic feel.
Tell us something about your specific neighborhood/community
The Person Place is on a gentle hill among pine woods, cattle and tobacco farms, a “village” of four homes on one side of the road, facing a large horse pasture and timber farm leading down to the valley. Many cleared acres are surrounded by mature trees and plantings. The elementary school, volunteer firehouse, Sandy Creek bridge, and most photographed mill in the county are just through the trees. Quiet country setting is 12 minutes from growing town of Louisburg.

Love letter to the buyer:
We originally purchased this home to provide space (both inside and outside) for a two generation household. We are down to one couple, and feel a new family could take advantage of the rooms and grounds. We’ve enjoyed Sunset Club for 23 years on the corner of the wrap-around porch, then retiring for evening drinks in the library. The pastoral views from every window are serene. Add to your bird count or point at wildlife in every direction from the porch, deck or patio. The short time we’ve been here in the home’s hundred-plus year history is only part of the story. The next family to take care of the Person Place will write their own chapter to start the next hundred years.
